Michael Vooght -
Michael Vooght was Vicar here for 17 years until September 2002. Michael and Elizabeth are very happy to have been able to stay in Thornbury in retirement, living now at the top of the High Street.
Before coming to Thornbury as Vicar, Michael was first a Curate in South London, then in Prestbury, Cheltenham, where he met and married Elizabeth, newly qualified as a teacher in the local Church School.
Then they moved to Minchinhampton, near Stroud,
where Michael was the incumbent for nearly 13 years.
Michael now enjoys singing in the Thornbury Choral Society, and taking a full part in organising the Thornbury U3A Opera Study Group. He and Elizabeth have one of Daggs' allotments near their house, and enjoy various produce from it.
Michael still puts his collar on some days to preside at the Eucharist at St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol, where he is an honorary priest. He is also very happy to have been welcomed back to the ministerial team here in Thornbury, where he presides at the Eucharist at regular intervals.
Elizabeth continues to enjoy leading Creative Workshops and welcoming people for Retreat Days at 62 High Street.
